To follow up with the picture I put on the main page, it was child-rearing time in the wild country. On the home page photo, a Great Blue Heron mom was getting testy and angry with another bird that landed close by. Its “eyebrows” are raised in anger giving it that “angry bird” look. This makes for an interesting pose.
The first photo below shows a surprised Tri-colored Heron mom when the youngster started to come up for feeding time. It’s like she was saying “Oh my gosh! It’s the starving kid again!”
The second photo below is one where mom is actually feeding the youngster. Notice how they cross beaks so that the food can transfer easily without dropping. I’m sure the little one enjoyed his meal and wanted more. They always want more!
