Have been slowly making progress on getting a new (to us) truck so we can tow a fifth-wheel trailer full time. The first order of business is getting the jeep fixed. Yes, that has been an on-going problem. The ECM computer has been sent back to the overhaul facility 4 times now, the most recent was yesterday. The third time it was sent the jeep sat at the repair facility for about 3 weeks with no computer in it. The ECM was installed as soon as it was returned (with no information on what was done to it) and driven home with no apparent issues. The next day it felt like overdrive was slipping when getting up to around 40 mph. So it was immediately driven back home. And then the engine light came on again with the same ECM/TCM trouble codes showing up. Went out of town for 4 days and came back to a fire in our area (that’s a who other story). The jeep also had a dead battery as one of the firemen found out when they were trying to move it from the path of the fire. I really hope they find the problem this time.
Also ran across an ad posted on facebook (from a craigslist posting) for a fifth-wheel hitch. Turns out it is a good quality hitch and it’s being offered by the husband of one of the doctors I had in the past! It’s an ISR Series SuperGlide 24K which retails at nearly $1,500 being offered at half price. So I’ll probably try to pick it up this weekend if it’s still available. My neighbor has a truck we can carry it in. So that part of getting my (hopefully soon) newly acquired truck ready for towing will be in place.
