And for my next backyard photo, something a little different. Not a bird or a mammal; how about a moth? This particular species is not seen very often or at least not photographed and shared online much.

I saw something bright and colorful out of the corner of my eye one day as I was stalking the creatures in my yard. I carefully ran over to where it was flitting about and I found this creature that I had no clue about. It was hard to get it to hold still, as all members of this group of creatures are, so I was running around trying to get the best angle while trying to avoid shooting into the sun. This little guy is a Bella Moth, also known as an Ornate Moth or Rattlebox Moth. You can read about their interesting habits elsewhere online so I won’t repeat all of that here.
